What Happened to Alexander French's Charges of Assault 2, Assault 4 and Robbery? Why does the Port Townsend Police Say they sent the case to Jefferson County Prosecutors, yet prosecutors say the did not get it ?

Port Townsend Police Chief Thomas Olson Email claiming that he sent the Alex French charges for Robbery 2nd Degree, Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree, Attempted Theft 2nd Degree, Theft 3rd Degree, and Assault 4th Degree from the Amy Sousa Press Conference on August 15th 2022. Yet for Some Reason Prosecutor Ashcraft did not seem to get the information

The police only refer the charges based on the evidence that they collect. Ultimately, it is the Prosecutor’s Office that determines what charges will or won’t actually be filed. So what happened to Alex French’s charges for “Robbery 2nd Degree, Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree, Attempted Theft 2nd Degree, Theft 3rd Degree, and Assault 4th Degree” that Port Townsend Police Chief Tom Olson Discusses in the above eMail? Did the Mayors Law Firm Feinson and Faber cook up a deal with “El Jeffe” (Jefferson County Attorney James Kennedy) via Prosecutor Chris Ashcraft, to sweep all those assaults and robbery under the magic rug?

 What Happened to the Criminals that Committed ALL those Assaults on ALL those Victims? Well ya see the Port Townsend Police swept it all under the rug and are trying NOT to prosecute anyone for Assault. The Jefferson County Prosecutors seem to think that is a good idea. Case #22-4448 should be utilized for the incident involving Alex French and Ryan Harris. This was

one fluid event, Officers entered the crowd due to French’s behavior of assaulting people, trying to

unplug the PA system and stealing a shoe by force (robbery). Officer Sharif attempted to intervene

and stop French when French Fled, it was during this attempted intervention when Harris grabbed

Officer Sharif. This should be one incident.

Officer Titterness completed the original report and attached Harris, I believe Officer Sharif has

added French to his supplement report. If you are dealing with multiple victims please attach them

in your supplement reports as they come in and relate to the specific offenses/suspects. After

seeing some social media videos, there are potentially multiple victims of assault by French and

Harris just prior to LE intervention, we will need to work on identifying them. Further discussions

can be had on who will be doing this.

Jefferson County Prosecutors and Port Townsend Mayors Law Firm Cooking up a Deal to Contain a Story that makes the City of Port Townsend Look VERY bad, oh and the Liability right.

Clearly Mayor David Faber, one of the Straight Port Townsend Men who incited a violent mob to suppress our speech, shut down our voice, harass, assault and attack us, while the Port Townsend Police Chief watched, well he did not want all that Evidence going to Trial. While I wouldn't mind talking about mosh pits during voir dire, this seems like a case that should not go to trial. The volume of eyewitnesses, photos, and videos that might come into play are significant, and I don't think anyone wants to rehash the grievances either "side" in those protests may have against the other.

We propose a 12-month continuance for dismissal. Mr. French would be happy to do a amount of community service you deem reasonable as a condition. He has no problem staying away from Julie Jaman, as well.

It looks like the court also has a few more months of jurisdiction on his 2017 DUI. We'd hope that the State would agree to take no action on that case.

 I have a Batch of the 911 Calls Made from the Scene of our Assault at the Julie Jaman Press Conference. The Port Townsend Police watched, and REFUSED to Help Us. Port Townsend Police have so far REFUSED to send any of the Assaults to the Jefferson County Prosecutor. Assault is Right there on the 911 CD Label and Certification of Chain of Custody. The City of Port Townsend, The Port Townsend Police, the City Council and County Commissioners ALL Denied Us Basic Human Rights.

The City of Port Townsend Denied our Constitutional Rights, our Basic Safety, Dignity and Respect. I allege that John Mauro, City Manager and Chief Olson, as well as other city officials defamed, prejudiced, and discriminated against Julie Jaman from the very first moment she cried out for help, for safety, for boundaries and equal rights under the law.

They Clearly Denied Julie Jaman Due Process as a Matter of Law. And the Port Townsend City Attorney Heidi Greenwood, and Steve King Public Works Director, “looped in” did nothing to speak up regarding this denial of due process, human rights violation, prejudice, elder abuse or to speak regarding LAW, Policies and Procedures, and equal rights of due process..

Why Back one side of the story immediately with no investigation?

Why discriminate against Elders, Lesbians, Women Rights?

Why pick a side at all?

Why NOT neutrality?

Why not innocent until proven guilty?

Why not reserve comment, hesitate, perhaps on picking a “side”, until, at least, an investigation into “did the YMCA employee follow the rule of 3 policy”? Did the YMCA have the proper facilities per law, state code? Why simply attack, prejudice, defame, humiliate, abuse and incite violence on an 80 year old long time member of our community?

The City Manager of Port Townsend, was at a crucial moment here, all he had to do was be Neutral and look into it or let it be between the YMCA and the Patron of the YMCA. Instead the CITY took a side, without an investigation and endangered Julie Jaman, and Amy Sousa who, days later were assaulted by a mob of hundreds of violent protesters. I and 10 other speakers and our dozen or so supporters were also attacked.

The City told the Police to Stand Down, we had no protection, no safety measures and no protection between groups. The Prejudice before the press conference was clear in the communication between Chief of Police John Mauro and Chief Tom Olson.

The Julie Jaman Press Conference was mostly elders, and the rest of us over 50 pretty much. This young strong violent mob attacked us. They wrapped pride flags around our head, I panicked at the suffocation as did others. They knocked us to the brick ground, pinned us to brick walls, robbed us, destroyed our property, threatened us, hit us with signs and flag poles, yelled and used sound devices to hurt and damage our ears, and as they assaulted us, the Port Townsend Police stood across the street and watched it happen. Until we finally got 911 to bring in the State Police.

This mob was created, incited, enabled, protected and defended by the actions of the City of Port Townsend.

The word “apparently” implies that Mauro does not know if it is actually true, yet he went on a campaign to incite prejudice and discrimination which led to violence against 80 year old Julie Jaman, Amy Sousa a local woman’s activist and rape survivor and anyone who would dare support an elder in our community.

Why was City Manager John Mauro “terrified”? Seems to me it is admitting Liability.

There was no investigation into any allegations before the City of Port Townsend came riding in with their proverbial war horses.

Turns out the YMCA did not follow the “rule of 3 policy” for children’s safety and Julie Jaman’s intuition was absolutely correct. But instead of being thanked for bringing this dangerous policy violation to the YMCA’s attention, and assuring Julie Jaman they would look into it and remind the staffer to follow the policy in the future, they incited the community to gang up against Julie Jaman, an 80 year old woman that had went to that pool for decades. No Dignity, No Respect, No Right to Due Process. Clear Discrimination. Clear Denial of Due Process. Clear Abuse of Power. It also turns out that the YMCA had violated state law and did not have the proper changing areas. The Port Townsend YMCA added changing areas to comply with law, AFTER Julie Jaman was banned and NOT reinstated. Instead of thanking Julie Jaman for bringing this to the Olympic YMCA’s attention, and assuring her they were correcting the issue, they called the cops, they berated her, humiliated her and then put out a call to action for hundreds of young strong activists to attack her and her supporters, of which I was one of them.

The City of Port Townsend, John Mauro City Manager, Heidi Greenwood City Attorney, Mayor David Fabor and the City Council did, in fact, NOT respect the “sensitive nature of this” nor provide due process or equality under the law, human rights, senior rights, civil rights nor constitutional rights.

If the City believed the YMCA had a right to do what they did then why not simply leave it up to the YMCA?

Why not just let the City Pool Managers operating under an “operations agreement” with the city, simply stand independent with the decision. I did share widely circulated a sticker image that someone else had created showing the Tsunami logo in pink, and the text “TERFS Out”

While the sticker design was intended to be a pun on “Surf& Turf” and bringing some humor to the idea that the “tide was turning” on hurtful stereotypes about Transgender people, I understand that some have tried to cast this as my “beliefs that TERFs should be “driven out” of “my” town. In hindsight, it wasn’t helpful to share it and created more upset and more extreme behavior.

Let me state this clearly: people are entitled to their opinions, however bigoted or hurtful I personally may find those opinions. The line where that stops for me is where that “opinion”

denies someone else’s right to exist and live their life safely.

Having an opinion that black people are inferior and are all criminals is protected free speech.

Lynching them, harassing their children, or sending them threats is a crime.

Having a opinion that women aren’t suited to elected leadership is protected free speech.

Keeping them from voting or holding office or intimidating them from running out of fear for their personal safety isn’t an opinion, it’s harassment.

Similarly, having an opinion that transgender women are only pretending to be women in order to prey on unsuspecting women in locker rooms is an opinion. Screaming at transgender women and asking questions about their genitals is harassment. There’s a line there.

I am taking a hard line about this issue precisely because I see firsthand the harm it is causing.

A 19 year old is having to quit her job, drop out of school, and leave her community and family in order to not have to live in fear of actual, credible death threats.

Dozens of parents were without childcare for more than a week because the Y was closed because of threats against the facility and staff, out of concern for children’s safety. Nobody wants an Oklahoma City bombing situation.

The Y aquatics director is receiving photos of her children with “they’re next” and has had to buy body armor and always travel with a protective detail.

The city offices were basically unable to function normally for days because all phone lines were jammed. Totally random city employees were being literally screamed at. The person who answers the phone for the water department does not deserve obscene verbal abuse.

Police overtime budget is in overdrive - this series of events will cost the city thousands of dollars that won’t go to other programs

Council Emails are so jammed we’re missing important actual messages while receiving hundreds of abusive, threatening and obscene emails. Our City voicemails have been unusable for over a month now.

This really isn’t anything to do with women’s safety, or bathrooms, or differences of opinion.

This is domestic terrorism, and it’s happening right here.

Katelyn,

It's way out of my lane to respond to your email since it was addressed to the mayor and his specific tweet. But since I believe he's out of town and may not have been following Rebel New's coverage of this situation as I have, I at least wanted to clear up an understandable misunderstanding that resulted from David's tweet.

I'm intending this to be off the record, but since this email is part of the written public record, I realize I can't depend on that.

I feel confident in saying that David's tweet was in reference to the council meeting itself, not the demonstrations outside.

 It was a really moving meeting in terms of the residents who spoke and the vibe in the air. According to my memory, there was very little negativity toward Julie or Amy or the others who came to speak.

I personally feel the usage of the term "TERF" in the tweet is unfortunate, but I'm not the word police.

As for what happened outside, I have my own opinions about what happened that might not

be shared with other councilors.


We were encouraged to stay in City Hall so as not to endanger ourselves or compromise the efforts of the police force. This was in the context of swirling rumors of potential violence. 

I was the only one who decided it was more important to see it first hand and, after checking in with the police chief, went out there to see for myself. So I'm very sympathetic to the complaints of the group who were trying to have a press conference.

I even gave a hug to one of the speakers who came up to me in tears. 

I really hated seeing how they were treated. There's nothing like seeing something in person

before one judges. And now we have people all over the world judging what's going on in our little town very out of context. I wish that judgement would be tempered better by that

acknowledgement.

Personally, I have complicated feelings about this situation.

I have many transgender friends and a transgender family member, and have been very disturbed by the ranting, hateful emails we've been receiving from around the world. Fairly or not, I think those emails might be influencing our collective response to the situation. I also believe strongly in free speech and in letting people talk, so I very much do not condone the shutting down and intimidation of the press conference that Amy Sousa organized.

Honestly, I wish Julie would have handled the initial situation better, though I'm sympathetic of "mama bear" instincts and really have no place as a man casting judgement. I will say that a similar feeling of protection has welled up in many of us on the Council to protect transgender people in general, whom many of us feel are in a particularly vulnerable spot in society, hence the proclamation. I'd like to think we can defend transgender people without ostracizing Julie or anyone else who may have concerns about a specific situation.

Port Townsend City Manager Immediately Takes side of YMCA with NO Investigation what so ever. YMCA Julie Jaman Banned. City of Port Townsend does NO Investigation.

Port Townsend's VERY well Paid City Manager "terrified" at this issue? Why? Lawsuits? Well the City of Port Townsend did NOTHING to investigate this matter and clearly the YMCA did not follow their own protocols. The Bad Guy here is and has always been the YMCA Management.

Hi All

I wanted to make sure we’re all in the loop re: an issue that just came my way via YMCA CEO Wendy

Bart. Apparently an individual was trespassed at the pool for verbally abusing a YMCA staff member

there at the locker room this week. Spotty details and a call back to Wendy for more info, but I she

noted in a brief message that her staff member, a trans person who identifies as female, was given a

barrage of terrible accusations and insults (I can provide examples – really hard to type them) and

had to be asked to leave the facility and not to return. This person was identified as Julie Jaman.

Chief, making sure you and your team are across it. Looping Heidi in as I do when things terrify me

and Steve from a MV Pool/facility perspective and given the nexus with other City-related issues and

behavior.

I want to respect the sensitive nature of this but also to ensure we do the right thing and back the

Y’s decision (which I believe they are allowed to make given our operations agreement).
